General Court Information

The purpose of the Columbiana Municipal Court is to handle misdemeanor cases – traffic, non-traffic, and parking tickets.

Certain charges may be paid in person to a court magistrate without appearing in court, if you would like to enter a plea of guilty. “In person” meaning the individual whom received the citation.

You may only do this if you have not been convicted of two or more traffic violations during the preceding twelve months. Payments can only be made by cash, money order, debit/credit card or certified check whether paid in person, by U.S. mail, or in court. We also offer Online Payments or by calling (205) 668-5337. The court magistrates are not allowed to postpone or change a court date. However, if you have any other questions or concerns regarding the amount of a fine or your court date, please contact Lisa McFall or call (205) 669-5806.

Payment received by mail should be in the form of MONEY ORDER or a CASHIER’S CHECK. PAYMENT MUST BE IN OUR OFFICE AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE COURT DATE ON THE TICKET.

TRAFFIC TICKETS or NON-TRAFFIC CASES that are listed on the FINES SCHEDULE can be paid at the window by the person that received the citation.

YOU CANNOT PAY SOMEONE ELSE’S TICKET UNLESS THEY HAVE SIGNED THE BACK OF THE TICKET PLEADING GUILTY.

If you are unclear about your court date, or the amount of the fine, please call (205) 669-5806, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Central time, Monday – Friday.

IF THE CASE IS NOT PAID BEFORE YOUR COURT DATE OR YOU DO NOT APPEAR IN COURT, A WARRANT OF ARREST WILL BE ISSUED, YOUR DRIVER LICENSE WILL BE SUSPENDED AND ADDITIONAL FINES WILL BE APPLIED.

You can make phone payments by calling (205) 668-5337 or Pay Online.
