 Spotlight

Sign up for SMS alerts and email messagesHave you ever wanted to keep up with what is going on in Columbiana but don't always want to connect to the web to find out?  If so, for those of you who would like to be notified of important news, you can now sign up to receive it directly via e-mail or SMS from Twitter.

Brief messages (less than 140 characters) can be sent by the City to subscribers' phones via SMS utilizing Twitter.  You do NOT have to have a Twitter account and the messages are not designed for conversing but purely as a means of the City providing news to you.  Information such as weather alerts, road closings, other public safety issues, etc. would be the primary use of this; however, it is possible that the City would notify you of for example, an upcoming Council meeting, a public hearing or maybe a reminder to vote!

The e-mail subscription would pick up where the SMS function leaves off, offering the City the ability to deliver a greater quantity of information to you.  Again, this would be primarily for the City to inform you not for dialogue.

Watch for the feature as it will be activated this week and sign up if you like so that your City government can help you stay informed, safe and involved in YOUR city!
