Columbiana is a proud Designated Alabama Main Street Community that seeks to bring businesses, jobs, dollars, and people to our charming downtown district. Anchored by the historic Shelby County Courthouse and the Shelby County Arts Center, Columbiana has so much to offer residents and visitors alike.
Columbiana Main Street follows the National Main Street Center’s trademarked Four-Point Approach, by focusing efforts on Promotion, Design, Economic Vitality, and Organization. We want to make our community, and our downtown district in particular, an engaging atmosphere for people of all ages.

In addition to supporting existing businesses in the Main Street District and helping to recruit new ones, we also focus on the aesthetic beauty of downtown with our façade grant program, and we sponsor special events that bring residents and visitors to downtown. Some of our ongoing events include: Bunny Tea, Music on Main, Art on Main, Liberty Day 5k Run, Movies at the Park, Monsters on Main, Farm to Table Annual Dinner, & Farmer’s Market (April – October).
For more information on what have planned for the upcoming year (October 1 through September 30), check out our Work Plans here.
Columbiana Main Street is a public-private partnership. Our program is overseen by an Executive Director, who is a city employee, and by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of local business owners and stakeholders. The program itself is a 501(c)(6) non-profit, and it is financially supported by the City, and by annual memberships made up of businesses and individuals who support our work.
