City of Columbiana Permitting Process

The permitting process for new builds or additions.

Step 1, We will check to see if your property is located in the City Limits of Columbiana.

Step 2, We will check to see what zoned district you are located in.

Step 3, We require a zoning verification form to be completed with a plot plan in pdf format. Also all contractors and sub- contractors are required to have a current city business license. Once all requirements are meet the zoning verification form will be forwarded to Shelby County Development Services for your permitting process. Step 4, Once the foundation is in place you are required to submit a survey showing the setbacks by a license engineer or land surveyor for new builds or additions to the structure. You will apply for approval with the city by completing the foundation survey form and submitting it in pdf format to dlucas@cityofcolumbiana.com if you have any questions contact Dale Lucas 205-669-5814

The permitting process for remodels

The city requires a zoning verification form for all of the following electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical, framing, and roofing. You are required to submit a zoning verification form for approval if the use of the structure is changing. Once the zoning form is approved by the city, you can then apply for your permit through Shelby County Development Services.
